Beatbox sensation, Tom Thum - best known for the most watched TEDx talk of all time, Beatbox Brilliance – joins forces with bohemian singer-songwriter Jamie MacDowell to create original, genre-defying music that is “redefining musical parameters” (Nouse). Armed only with a guitar, and a versatile voicebox able to convey any instrument, this duo eschew cynicism, exude joy, and defy expectations. A funny, riotous combination of folk-pop songs and virtuosic beat-boxing that has seen the Australian duo garner a global following.
WINNER: Best Music, Adelaide Fringe 2016 & Brighton Fringe 2014.
Since running away from the circus where they first met (Tom Tom Crew), award-winning singer-songwriter Jamie MacDowell and beatbox sensation Tom Thum have been taking the arts festival world by storm. Combining original, genre-defying music with an endearing performance style, the duo have gathered a global following with sold out shows across the world, and Best Music Awards at Adelaide (2016) and Brighton Fringes (2014).
Accomplished solo artists in their own right, Jamie cut his teeth in the tight-knit acoustic community in Melbourne. His talent as a songwriter was recognised through numerous Australian awards in 2010, and in 2011 his song ‘Sister‘ attracted international awareness as it climbed to Number 1 on the Australian iTunes soundtrack charts. Tom Thum, a product of Brisbane‘s live music scene, is best known for the highest viewed TEDx video of all time, 'Beatbox Brilliance', which has racked up over 71 million views and counting! He has also recently performed globally in collaboration with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
